The Kennett After-School Association (KASA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that runs the After-The-Bell program. KASA is run by a Board of Directors which includes 12-15 members. KASA is independently funded and receives no government or school district financial support for the operation of the After-The-Bell program.
The Board, working with an Executive Director, oversees all fundraising for After-The-Bell. Fundraising sources include grants from Foundations and the United Way of Southern Chester County, donations from local businesses and individuals, and revenue from fundraising events.
KASA was founded in 1998 and, at the direction of the Founders, no student or family pays for the services offered. Participating students receive a healthy snack and drink upon arrival. Approximately 50 activities are offered each cycle and KASA pays all costs for fees and supplies. Up to 30% of activities take place off-site at the location of some of our community partners, including the Kennett Area YMCA, The Land Conservancy, New Garden Airfield, and the Stroud Water Research Center. KASA covers the cost for transportation to off-site activities and provides all students with a bus ride home at the end of each program day.
KASA is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO).
